Florida-raised Kevin Verpaele learned a love for the game of football in his youth. Playing during his teenage years at Merritt Island High School, he continued with the sport in college. Verpaele earned a football scholarship to the University of South Florida, playing in various positions during his four-year education. He even juggled fatherhood during this time, departing practices early twice a week or more to pick his young daughter -- born while Verpaele was a senior in high school -- up from daycare. As a junior with USF, Kevin Verpaele was named a strong safety for the school’s football team, continuing to manage life as a dad with football, even getting his daughter while still in full gear and bringing her to practice on some days. Verpaele’s love for this American sport continued into his family life as he and his wife named their second child, a son, Karys Football.
